Nur Izzah binti Harun

Nur Izzah is a resilient young woman who has been battling kidney disease since an early age. As a result of her condition, she has been dependent on continuous dialysis treatment for years, which has become a regular and essential part of her life. Dialysis, while life-saving, can place significant strain on the body, especially over time. For Nur Izzah, the prolonged treatment eventually led to complications in her veins, a common issue for individuals who require long-term dialysis.

Under the care of Dr. Tan Kong Hean, a consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon at CVSKL, it was determined that Nur Izzah needed an arteriovenous (AV) fistula procedure. This procedure is vital to improve the effectiveness and safety of her dialysis, as it creates a direct connection between an artery and a vein, allowing for better blood flow during dialysis treatments. Without the AV fistula, the complications from her current veins could worsen, making her dialysis treatments more difficult and potentially life-threatening.

Nur Izzah lives in Pantai Dalam with her mother, a dedicated homemaker who provides her with emotional support despite their challenging circumstances. As the primary caretaker for her mother, Nur Izzah’s responsibilities extend beyond just her own health. She balances her own medical needs with ensuring that her mother is well taken care of, creating a heavy burden for a young person already coping with a serious health condition.

However, despite the critical need for the AV fistula procedure, the cost of the surgery was far beyond their financial means. The financial strain placed on Nur Izzah, who has limited resources and is unable to work due to her medical condition, made it even more difficult for her to pursue the necessary treatment. Faced with these overwhelming challenges, Nur Izzah was left in a dire situation, unsure of how she could afford the surgery.

Once Dr. Tan learned of Nur Izzah’s financial hardship, he reached out to the CVSKL Foundation for assistance. The Foundation, committed to supporting individuals in need of life-saving medical treatments, stepped in to cover the cost of the procedure, ensuring that Nur Izzah could receive the medical intervention she so desperately needed.

We are pleased to share that Nur Izzah’s AV Fistula procedure was a success, and she is now in the process of recovering well. Thanks to the generous support of the CVSKL Foundation, she can continue her dialysis treatment with greater comfort and fewer complications, improving her quality of life and allowing her to care for both her health and her mother’s needs.

Nur Izzah’s story highlights the profound impact of community support and how access to medical care can bring hope to individuals facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles. CVSKL Foundation remains dedicated to helping those like Nur Izzah, providing financial assistance for critical medical procedures and offering a lifeline to individuals in need.
